Cape Hotham Lighthouse
The Cape Hotham lighthouse was constructed by the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service between 1913 and 1920, during the "Golden Age of Australian Lighthouses". The lighthouse marks the entrance to Clarence Strait, the eastern approach to Darwin.
Architecture
- The tower height of the lighthouse is 16 metres (52 feet). The focal height is reportedly not specified. The light characteristic shown is three flashes, one every two seconds, repeating every 15 seconds (Fl.(3)W.R. 15s). The colour is red on 025°-070° and white elsewhere.
Light Characteristics
The red light is visible for approximately 9 nautical miles (17 km; 10 mi), while the white light is visible for around 12 nautical miles (22 km; 14 mi).

The Cape Hotham lighthouse is an active aid to navigation, operated by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. The tower is closed to the public.

The lighthouse is located on Cape Hotham in the Northern Territory of Australia, approximately 80 kilometres (50 mi) northeast of Darwin. Accessible by boat from Darwin, however the tower itself is not open for visitors.
