Svjetionik Pokonji Dol is an active coastal lighthouse located at the southernmost tip of the island of Hvar, Croatia. The official address is Ul. Lanterna Pokonji dol 1, 21450 Hvar, Croatia.

Construction and History

The lighthouse was built in 1872 under Austro-Hungarian administration. It has been guiding vessels entering the Adriatic Sea off Hvar for over 140 years. Initially operated by the Austro-Hungarian Maritime Directorate, it is now managed by Plovput (Croatian state company for maritime signaling).

Architecture and Materials

The lighthouse is a cylindrical tower with a gallery and lantern attached to a single-storey keeper's house. The structure is made of local masonry, typical for Dalmatian coastal lighthouses.
