Construction and History

The construction of Svjetionik Savudrija began in 1813 and was completed three years later. It is one of the oldest lighthouses on the Adriatic coast, built by Plovput, a maritime authority responsible for maintaining the country's navigational aids.

Architecture and Materials

The lighthouse is constructed from stone and has a square base with a cylindrical shape rising to a pyramidal top. The original lantern room was replaced in the mid-20th century, reducing the tower's height by about 5 meters (16 feet).

Light and Navigation

Although no longer operational as an active aid to navigation, Svjetionik Savudrija has been converted into a museum and tourist attraction.
