The exact date of the original construction is unknown, but it is believed that the current steel tower was installed in the early 20th century as an upgrade to an earlier masonry pier-head beacon.

The lighthouse has a cylindrical steel tower painted green, mounted on a concrete base at the head of the breakwater. The structure stands approximately 9 meters above ground level.
