Originally, the lighthouse featured a third-order Fresnel lens that emitted a light beam with a range of approximately 15 nautical miles (28 km). The characteristic pattern was Fl(3)W.15s, meaning it flashed three times every 15 seconds. Unfortunately, the original light source is no longer in operation.

Visitors can access the lighthouse, but please note that there are no public facilities on-site. The nearest town is Fedje, which offers basic amenities.
