Latarnia morska Rozewie II

Rozewska 15, 84-104 Rozewie, Poland

Name and Location

The Rozewie II Lighthouse, also known as the "New" lighthouse, is a historic 19th-century beacon located in Rozewie village, Poland. Its address is Rozewska 15, 84-104 Rozewie, Gmina Władysławowo, Puck County, Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Construction and History

The Rozewie II Lighthouse was commissioned in 1875 during the Prussian administration and replaced an earlier lighthouse built in 1822. It served maritime traffic until decommissioning in the late 20th century. The original purpose of the lighthouse was to provide a stronger navigational aid on this stretch of the Bay of Puck.

Architecture and Materials

The lighthouse has a 19th-century historicist brick architecture, with a cylindrical tower shape and a balcony and lantern. It is constructed from solid red brick with cast-iron lantern room and external masonry staircase to the gallery. The tower height is approximately 32.7 meters (tower structure), situated on a 30-35 meter coastal cliff, which brings the focal height to around 65 meters above sea level.

Light and Navigation

The lighthouse was originally equipped with a major sea light, but its characteristic and range are not available in current public records.

Accessibility and Visiting

Although no longer an active lighthouse, Rozewie II is open to visitors as a maritime museum and observation tower. Visitors can access the site by car or regional bus to Rozewie, followed by a short forest trail. Parking is available at the Rozewie Ośrodek parking lot. The opening hours are generally from May to September, Wednesday-Sunday 10:00-18:00 (subject to seasonal change), and an entrance fee applies.

Notable Views and Landscape

The top gallery of the lighthouse offers panoramic views of the Baltic Sea, the narrow beach at Rozewie, nearby dunes, and forested coastal cliffs. Visitors can also explore the surrounding landscape, including the old Rozewie Lighthouse (Latarnia Morska Rozewie I), located 300 meters to the northeast.

Technical and Operational Details

The lighthouse was originally constructed during the German Empire period in the late 19th century. Although its original purpose was to aid maritime traffic, it is no longer an official aid to navigation. The exact architect of the lighthouse is unknown.
