The Сигнальный Lighthouse was constructed in 1936 to guide ships through the treacherous waters of the Kuril Islands. It has been operated by the Russian Ministry of Defense since its inception. The lighthouse played a crucial role in facilitating maritime trade and communication during World War II.

The lighthouse stands at a height of 18 meters (59 feet), with a focal plane height of 17 meters (56 feet). Unfortunately, it is no longer functional due to tectonic activity that caused a decrease in sea level and subsequent erosion of the foundation.
