Name and Location

Far de la Punta de l'Avançada, also known as Punta de la Avanzada Lighthouse, stands on a rocky promontory at the western side of Port de Pollença's entrance on Mallorca's northern coast.

Construction and History

The exact date of construction is not recorded, but its clean lines suggest a 20th-century origin. The lighthouse stands approximately 29 meters above its base, making it a prominent landmark for vessels approaching the bay.

Architecture and Materials

Far de la Punta de l'Avançada is a circular masonry tower painted white and topped by a lantern gallery. A small single-storey service building is attached to the main structure.

Light and Navigation

The lighthouse emits an occulting white light, group of two every 8 seconds (Oc(2) W 8s), with a range of 15 nautical miles. The light is visible between bearings 234°–272°, and its Admiralty No. is E 0298.

Accessibility and Visiting

The lighthouse stands on military-protected land and is not open to the general public. However, the best viewing points are from the coastal footpath west of Port de Pollença or by boat approaching the harbour entrance.

Notable Views and Landscape

The site commands wide views across the bay to Cap de Formentor and the northern stretches of the Tramuntana range. On clear days, one can see the lighthouse's silhouette from nearby beaches surrounded by cliffs and low scrub.
