2. Construction and History

The Faro de Morro Jable was commissioned on February 18, 1996. Prior to its construction, smaller beacons and temporary lights served local fishermen and ferries. The purpose of the lighthouse is to mark the entrance to the port of Morro Jable and guide vessels along the southeastern coast of Fuerteventura.

3. Architecture and Materials

The lighthouse has a modern utilitarian design typical of late 20th-century Spanish port lighthouses. It stands at a height of 62 meters, with a cylindrical tower rising from a single-storey service building made of reinforced concrete with integrated equipment base. The structure is painted white.

4. Light and Navigation

The Faro de Morro Jable emits a group flashing white light every 10 seconds (Fl (2) W 10s). The light has a range of 20 nautical miles, using high-intensity discharge or LED array technology. It operates on mains electricity with an emergency generator backup.

5. Accessibility and Visiting

The lighthouse tower is closed to visitors, but the surrounding public beach and protected dune area are accessible by road FV-2 from Morro Jable town center toward Playa del Matorral. Parking is available near beach access points. Nearby facilities include beach cafés, sunshade rentals, and restrooms at Playa del Matorral.

6. Notable Views and Landscape

The lighthouse offers panoramic views of the Jandía mountain range to the west and the Atlantic surf breaking along the eastern shore. The surrounding landscape features low sand dunes and Matorral scrub behind a wide sandy beach.

7. Anecdotes and Folklore

Locals sometimes refer to the lighthouse informally as "Faro de la Playa del Matorral." Ship-shape rescue drills by the local lifeguard service occasionally stage exercises in its vicinity.

8. Technical and Operational Details
