Construction and History

The lighthouse was built in 1883 and has a rich history of operation and preservation. After her husband John's death in 1890, Keeper Kate Walker (1848-1931) took over the responsibility of maintaining the light until 1919. The lighthouse is part of the Noble Maritime Collection and is recognized as a National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) site (#06000631).
