History

The tower stands at a height of approximately 30 meters (98 feet) above sea level, with a focal height of around 50 meters (164 feet). The structure is made from limestone and features a distinctive octagonal shape. The lighthouse was designed by Italian architect Giovanni Battista Piranesi.

The Faro di Cozzo Spadaro emits a fixed red light, visible up to 20 nautical miles out to sea. The light's pattern is a steady flash every 10 seconds.

Current Status

The lighthouse remains an active aid to navigation, although it has been automated since the 1990s. Today, it serves as a museum and tourist attraction, open to visitors who wish to learn about its history and significance.
