Shahany Lighthouse

The Shahany Lighthouse, also known as Маяк Шагани, is a historic lighthouse located on the coast of Ukraine.

History

• The construction of the Shahany Lighthouse began in 1944 and was completed shortly after. The lighthouse has played a crucial role in maritime navigation and safety for over seven decades.

Architecture

The Shahany Lighthouse stands at a height of 16 meters above sea level, with a focal height of 20 meters. Its distinctive red color serves as a beacon to mariners navigating the surrounding waters. The lighthouse's architecture is characterized by its simple yet functional design, reflecting the practical needs of its purpose.

Light Characteristics

The Shahany Lighthouse emits a white light that can be seen up to 14 nautical miles away. The light pattern consists of a Fl (flash) sequence with a period of 5 seconds and a range of reserve lights at 7M. This allows for safe navigation in the surrounding waters.

Current Status

The Shahany Lighthouse is currently an active aid to navigation, operated by Держгідрографія. However, it has not been automated and remains under human supervision.
