Burry Port Lighthouse

The Burry Port Lighthouse was constructed in 1842 and has been an important aid to navigation ever since its completion. The lighthouse stands at the entrance to the Loughor estuary, where it plays a crucial role in guiding mariners safely into the harbour.

The lighthouse is constructed from local stone and features a distinctive white paint scheme.

The Burry Port Lighthouse emits a powerful beam that can be seen for up to 7 nautical miles. The light is characterized by a Fl (first order) pattern, with a period of 5 seconds. The colour of the light is white, making it highly visible to mariners in all conditions.

The Burry Port Lighthouse remains an active aid to navigation, although it has been automated since its installation. The lighthouse continues to be maintained by the relevant authorities and is still used as a reference point for mariners navigating the area.
