Spurn Lighthouse

The Spurn Lighthouse was constructed in 1905 and has been an important aid to navigation on the Humber Estuary ever since its completion.

The Spurn Lighthouse can be found on the narrow sand tidal island of Spurn, located off the tip of the coast of the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.

Location and Accessibility

• The island is accessible via the A165 road, which runs along its western edge.
• However, due to the island's unique tidal nature, access may be limited at high tide.

The Spurn Lighthouse and surrounding area are protected by a range of heritage designations, including being part of the Humber Flats, Marshes and Coast Special Protection Area.

The Spurn Lighthouse played an important role in the 2013 storm that made the road down to the end of Spurn impassable to vehicles at high tide.
