History

The light's characteristic pattern is a fixed red light with a range of up to 20 nautical miles.

The lighthouse is situated on Michigan Avenue in St. James Township, Beaver Island, Michigan. It can be accessed via the Beaver Island ferry, which operates regularly during the summer months. Visitors can also reach the island by private boat or seaplane.

Current Status

The Beaver Island Harbor Lighthouse remains an active aid to navigation, guiding mariners safely into the harbor. The lighthouse is no longer automated and is instead staffed by a U.S. Coast Guard station that was formerly a lifesaving station.
