Bradleys Head Lighthouse

The Bradleys Head Lighthouse is situated at Bradleys Head, a headland protruding from the north shore of Sydney Harbour in the suburb of Mosman, New South Wales, Australia. The lighthouse can be accessed via Bradleys Head Road.

History

The Bradleys Head Light was built in 1905 and has been an active aid to navigation ever since its construction. It is the sibling of Robertson Point Light.

Architecture

The lighthouse features a tower with a height of 7 metres (23 feet) above sea level, and a focal height of approximately 20 metres (66 feet). The light itself is a green colour, with a range of 6 nautical miles. The light's period is 3 minutes, and it emits an "Oc" character.

Current Status

The Bradleys Head Lighthouse is currently an active aid to navigation, managed and operated by Sydney Ports Corporation. It has been heritage-listed since its addition to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 18 April 2000.

As a result of being listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register, the Bradleys Head Lighthouse is protected for its historical significance.
