Farol Naufragados

History

The lighthouse is a white truncated conical stone tower with a height of 43 meters (141 feet) above sea level. Light Characteristics

The Farol Naufragados emits a white light with a range of 18 nautical miles. The light has a period of 15 seconds and is visible in all directions within a sector of 177° to 285°. The light's characteristics are designated as Fl (flash) by the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities.

Current Status

The Farol Naufragados is currently an active aid to navigation, operated by the Marinha do Brasil. However, it has been automated since its construction, with a modern electronic system replacing the traditional optic lantern.

The lighthouse is situated on Trilha do Farol, a scenic trail that winds its way through the island's lush vegetation. The location is easily accessible by car or public transportation, with several parking areas available near the tower.
