History

Current Status

The lighthouse is currently no longer active, having been automated in the 1990s. It has since been converted into a museum, offering visitors a glimpse into Japan's rich maritime history.

The Hirajima Lighthouse is located on Hirajima Island, which can be accessed by ferry from Kobe Port. The island is situated approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) off the coast of Kobe, and the lighthouse is easily visible from the shore.
