Yokohama Marine Tower

The Yokohama Marine Tower, also known as 横浜マリンタワー, is a prominent lighthouse located on Mizumachi-dori Street in Yokohama, Japan.

History

• The construction of the Yokohama Marine Tower began in 1934 and was completed in 1935. The tower serves as a navigational aid for mariners entering the Port of Yokohama, providing vital guidance to ensure safe passage through the busy shipping lanes.

The tower stands at a height of 88 meters (289 feet) above ground level, with its focal point situated at an elevation of 93 meters (305 feet). The lighthouse's distinctive design features a cylindrical structure topped by a square lantern room. Light Characteristics

The Yokohama Marine Tower emits a fixed white light with a range of approximately 20 nautical miles (37 kilometers). The light's pattern is a steady flash every 10 seconds.

The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid, although it has been automated since its installation. The tower is no longer used as a primary navigation aid due to the widespread use of electronic navigation systems.
