Point Jerningham Light

The Point Jerningham Light is situated on Oriental Parade, near the entrance to Lambton Harbour in New Zealand.

History

The lighthouse was constructed in 1907 by a local architect. It has been an important aid to navigation for mariners entering the harbour.

Architecture

The tower height of the lighthouse is 6 metres (20 feet), while its focal height is 4 metres (13 feet). The light itself emits a red beam with a range of 5 nautical miles and a period of 1 minute. The light's shape is that of a pile, and it features a white cable.

The Point Jerningham Light remains an active aid to navigation, although its operation may be automated at times.
