Little Sable Point Lighthouse

The Little Sable Point Light was constructed in 1874 and has been an important aid to navigation on Lake Michigan ever since its completion.

History

  • DDesigned by Col. Orlando M. Poe, a renowned architect of the time, this lighthouse is considered a classic example of his work.

The tower's foundation consists of 109 1-foot-diameter wood pilings driven into the sand, capped by 12 feet of stone.

Architecture
