History

• The original lighthouse was constructed in 1870 and destroyed in the 1906 Earthquake. A new tower built in 1908 marked a significant milestone in California's lighthouse history as it was the first to utilize reinforced concrete, providing better resistance to earthquakes.

The current tower stands at a height of 35 meters (115 feet) above sea level and has a focal height of approximately 50 meters (164 feet). The structure is constructed from reinforced concrete, showcasing its innovative design for seismic resilience.
